We are representing a well-established and progressive accountancy practice with a strong presence across the Midlands, currently seeking an Accounts Semi Senior to join its growing team. This opportunity is ideally suited to a part-qualified ACCA or ICAEW professional, or an experienced Semi Senior with solid UK practice experience, looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and development-focused environment.
The successful candidate will work with a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of sectors, supporting the delivery of high-quality accounting and tax services. The role offers increasing responsibility, structured training, and a clear progression pathway towards an Accounts Senior position.
Responsibilities
* Preparation of statutory accounts and management accounts for a varied client portfolio
* Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax compliance work
* Preparation and review of VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
* Supporting senior staff with tax planning and advisory assignments
* Liaising directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries, and maintain strong working relationships
* Assisting with cash flow forecasting and basic business planning assignments
* Reviewing work prepared by junior team members where appropriate
* Ensuring all assignments are completed accurately and in accordance with deadlines and regulatory standards
* Using IRIS or similar accountancy software efficiently
* Supporting Managers and Directors in delivering high-quality client service
Requirements
* Part-qualified ACCA or ICAEW (or actively studying towards qualification)
* A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice environment
* Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and basic tax compliance
* Experience using IRIS or similar accountancy software
* Good understanding of VAT regulations and HMRC requirements
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective client relationships
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
* Proactive and professional approach to learning and development
* Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff would be advantageous
* Commercial awareness and a solution-focused mindset
