PE Teaching Assistant / Sports Coach
Location: Lancaster, Morecambe & Heysham
Start Date: February 2026
Contract: Full‑time
Pay: £13.75–£14.50 per hour
Schools across the Lancaster, Morecambe and Heysham areas are seeking a confident and motivated PE‑based Teaching Assistant / Sports Coach to support the delivery of high‑quality physical education and promote active, healthy lifestyles among pupils. This role combines classroom support with sports coaching and requires someone enthusiastic, energetic and committed to helping pupils succeed both in PE and across the wider curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of PE lessons across KS1 and KS2
* Lead small‑group and individual sports activities under teacher direction
* Deliver structured physical activity interventions to develop fitness, teamwork and confidence
* Assist with behaviour management and ensure safe participation in all activities
* Support pupils with additional needs in PE and movement‑based sessions
* Contribute to extra‑curricular clubs, sports events and after‑school activities where required
* Provide general classroom support when not in PE sessions

Person Specification
* Experience working with children in a sports, coaching or school setting
* Strong understanding of physical activity, movement skills and child development
* Professional, enthusiastic and able to motivate pupils
* Confident managing groups and promoting positive behaviour
* Sports coaching qualifications or relevant experience are highly desirable
* A proactive attitude and commitment to supporting whole‑school values
