An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Cardiologist with sub-specialty interest in Coronary Intervention at York Hospital.
A new, greater capacity Vascular Imaging Unit is due to open in Winter 2025 and we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Consultant Interventional Cardiologist to join our dedicated cardiology team at York Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing interventional service within a supportive and forward-thinking Trust.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide expert care in interventional cardiology, including coronary angiography and PCI.
2. Participate in the development and delivery of cardiology services across the Trust.
3. Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to clinical governance.
4. Support junior medical staff and participate in teaching and training activities.
5. Contribute to on-call rota and emergency cardiology services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
13. Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC
14. Hold of license to practice with the General Medical Council
15. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Cardiology via; -CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) - CESR or - European Community - Trained in Coronary Intervention as per CCT requirements. - Rights (within 6 months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
16. MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research
17. Ability to supervise postgraduate research
18. Fellowship in coronary intervention or experience in calcium modification techniques / IVUS / FFR and OCT. Level 2 accreditation in CT Coronary Angiography Interest in structural heart disease, or other specialty interest
Clinical Practice / Competence
Essential criteria
19. Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill required for gaining UK CCT in Cardiology +/- General Medicine
20. Interventional training and skills required to take up an interventional post
21. Knowledge of good medical practice and the General Medical Council requirements
22. Is able to work effectively in spite of pressures
23. Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice
Desirable criteria
24. Experience of developing cardiology services and staff to enhance patient care.
25. Completed an interventional Fellowship
Teaching
Essential criteria
26. Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
27. Ability to teach clinical skills
28. Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings
29. Experience of supervision of postgraduate trainees
30. Ability to critically review research
Desirable criteria
31. Experience of supervising SpRs/specialist trainees
32. Publications in peer review journals
33. Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
34. Experience of teaching lay groups and paramedical staff
