Primary Teacher (English Specialist) – Day-to-Day & Long-Term Support
Location: Various settings across Cheshire East
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: £130 – £170 per day (dependent on level of experience)

About the Role:
New Directions is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Primary Teacher (English Specialist) to provide day-to-day and long-term teaching support across our educational settings in Cheshire East. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of schools, delivering high-quality, engaging English lessons while supporting broader primary teaching across multiple subjects.

As an English Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and inspiring pupils’ literacy skills, fostering a love of reading, writing, and communication. You will have the chance to implement evidence-based literacy pedagogy, deliver creative and immersive English lessons, and embed literacy across the curriculum, ensuring that all learners develop strong language skills for life.

We are looking for a Primary Teacher (English Specialist) who:

1. Has a passion for teaching English and inspiring children to enjoy reading, writing, and speaking.
2. Can design and deliver lessons that support literacy mastery, comprehension, and communication skills.
3. Understands learner-centered approaches, differentiation, and inclusive teaching to meet the needs of all pupils.
4. Is confident using formative and summative assessment data to inform planning and track progress.
5. Has experience integrating literacy across the curriculum, linking English to other subjects in creative ways.
6. Is adaptable, resilient, and comfortable teaching across multiple schools and year groups.

Key Responsibilities:

7. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons using innovative and effective pedagogical strategies.
8. Develop pupils’ understanding of key literacy concepts, including reading fluency, writing composition, grammar, vocabulary, and spoken language.
9. Promote creative thinking, analytical skills, and communication across all English lessons.
10. Integrate literacy into cross-curricular activities to enhance engagement and learning.
11. Provide support in other primary subjects as required, ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum.
12. Ensure learning experiences are inclusive, engaging, and differentiated to meet the needs of all pupils.
13. Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, using data-informed insights to guide future teaching.
14. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice, support school improvement initiatives, and contribute to an English-focused professional learning community.
15. Promote a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of language and literature.

Job Specification

We recruit Primary Teachers for jobs in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) Primary Teacher job roles.

As a Primary School Teacher you’ll be expected to:

21. Teach all areas of the school curriculum
22. Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
23. Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
24. Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
25. Maintain discipline
26. Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
27. Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
28. Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
29. Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
