A client within the Public Sector based in Devon is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join their Team as soon as possible. This is a full-time, temporary position offered on an ongoing basis. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a local authority health and safety environment and be able to hit the ground running.
The Role
Key Purpose is to support the provision of an effective health and safety service for the Council, ensuring compliance with statutory health and safety legislation, corporate policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Providing professional advice and guidance on health and safety legislation and best practices across Council services.
* Supporting the development of a positive health and safety culture.
* Carrying out inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
* Delivering training (e.g. toolbox talks, workshops).
* Promoting and supporting the use of the corporate safety management system (AssessNET).
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you must have:
* A BSc or Diploma in Environmental Health & EHORB Registration and/or a Level 6 Health and Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH National Diploma).
* Strong practical knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and best practices.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience managing databases.
The following skills would be beneficial:
* Experience delivering health and safety training.
* Strong investigation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
* Experience with asbestos awareness and workplace sampling.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £25 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £20 per hour PAYE).
