Job Summary
We welcome applications in a rare opportunity to join us in a GP Partnership role at Potterells Medical Centre. Due to planned retirement in April 2026, we are seeking 2 new Partners to join our team for 6 to 8 sessions per week each.
Main Duties
As a GP partner you will play a pivotal role in both clinical care and strategic leadership. You will be involved in shaping the future of the practice, contributing to decision‑making and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate healthcare. We recognise the opportunities but also the challenges of starting a career as a GP Partner. You will be offered a full induction period, regular monitoring sessions and access to relevant training courses. The successful candidate will be expected to share ownership of the premises.

We are a large, well established training practice based in North Mymms, Hertfordshire with easy access to the A1M. We serve a total population of around 17,400 patients with a branch surgery at the University of Hertfordshire, serving 8,000 registered students. Job Responsibilities
* The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
* The provision of services commensurate with the GP contract
* Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
* Effective management of long‑term conditions
* Process administration in a timely manner including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
* Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
* Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
* Take responsibility for continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the organisation
* Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
* Attend and contribute effectively to external and internal meetings as required
* Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the organisation including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
* Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practice
* Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times
* Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
* On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
* Contribute to the effective management of the organisation including administration, planning, strategy, resilience planning etc.
* Show leadership qualities, work collaboratively, ensure an even distribution of the organisations workload
* Remain fully focused on the strategic aims of the organisation, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
* Prepare and attend partnership meetings contributing in a positive manner
* Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes
* Attend a formal appraisal at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed
Person Specification – Qualifications (Essential)
* Qualified GP
* MRCGP
* Full GMC Registration without restrictions
* National Performers List Registrations
* Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
Experience (Desirable)
* At least 1 year post‑CCT experience as a GP in a UK general practice, demonstrating proficiency in managing a wide range of primary‑care conditions including chronic diseases, acute presentations and preventive care.
* Experience or enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring as our practice supports GP trainees
