Overview
This post is in general adult and paediatric dermatology. The post holder will be a core member of the skin oncology MDT and will join the weekly on‑call rota for ward referrals and urgent A&E/GP queries (0900‑1700 Monday‑Friday). There is no out of hours on‑call commitment. The role includes secretarial and multidisciplinary team support and a commitment to 3 clinical sessions – general adult/paediatric dermatology, skin cancer outpatient clinic, MDT skin oncology meeting, and minor operation, teledermatology and ward round sessions. Development of a special interest clinic/service lead is also provided depending on the postholder’s interests.
Responsibilities
* Provision of a dermatology service for outpatients, day‑cases, in‑patients, ward referrals and relevant surgical procedures.
* Education, training and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff, nurses, paramedics and general practitioners.
* Administrative duties to ensure the proper functioning of the department and cover for colleagues’ leave periods.
* Participation in medical audit, clinical governance, research and continuing professional development relating to dermatology.
* Management and supervision of medical, nursing and other professional staff within the dermatology multidisciplinary care team.
* Attendance at directorate, district and regional meetings as required.
* Participation in the dermatology on‑call rota and prospective cross‑cover with colleagues.
* Contribution to the development of dermatology services, treatment guidelines and the promotion of greater knowledge in primary care.
Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualification (MRCP (UK) or recognised equivalent).
* Degree from a recognised university.
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (within 6 months of interview) or CESR.
