What will I be doing?
As part of the Counselling and Support Service (CSS) you will provide counselling to patients and those who are important to them. This is a vital role in providing emotional and psychological support to people both in pre- and post-bereavement and which requires a high degree of empathy, awareness and sensitivity.
Volunteers will be expected to support other activities run by CSS such as bereavement groups and events.

When?
Up to 4 hours per week with clients.
Group supervision fortnightly for 2 hours. Details to be confirmed, we currently have supervision times Tuesday or Thursday mornings between 10 am and 12 noon and Tuesday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm, however we intend to offer a Monday afternoon session as well.
Our counselling provision includes appointments in the evenings and on Saturday mornings to fit with client needs.
Further Information
Volunteer Counsellors are currently working by telephone, online and in person.
Full training will be given before beginning client work and Clinical Supervision is included throughout the placement. Client work will typically begin with those people who have been bereaved.
We also provide 4 CPD days per year, and other opportunities for training. You will be expected to complete mandatory training as part of your induction process and to attend a New Starter Welcome Day held on the first Friday of the month.
A minimum commitment of two years is required.
