We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join a busy team working at the port authority. This is a day-based role, working Monday to Thursday 8-4 and a 3pm finish on Friday.
Your new role
On joining the busy maintenance team, you will assist with:
Carry out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishments and installations to maximise plant and equipment performance.
Respond to breakdowns and emergency situations during normal working hours and on an out‑of‑hours call‑out basis.
Work on a wide range of equipment including dock gate machinery, cranes, vehicles, hydraulics and general infrastructure repairs
Assist Engineering Maintenance Supervisors in identifying future maintenance requirements.
Work alongside external contractors and key suppliers (e.g. UDS, Bay Towage).
Undertake and review risk assessments to facilitate safe maintenance activities.What you'll need to succeed
NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Proven maintenance experience
Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
Experience working on mechanical plant
Good safety awareness and understanding of risk assessmentsWhat you'll get in return
