Castle Dairies are an award-winning butter manufacturer based in Caerphilly, South Wales. We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Assistant to join our Technical team. This is a full-time permanent position.
Purpose of the role
The Compliance Assistant is responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing product specifications to ensure compliance with legal, safety, and customer requirements. This role supports the technical and quality teams by providing accurate documentation and liaising with suppliers and customers regarding product data.
Key Accountabilities
Specification Management
Create and maintain product specifications using internal systems and customer portals.
Ensure specifications are accurate, complete, and compliant with food safety regulations and customer standards.
Update specifications in response to product changes, reformulations, or regulatory updates.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all specifications meet relevant legislation (e.g., UK/EU food law, allergen declarations, nutritional labelling).
Support technical compliance with standards such as BRCGS, retailer codes of practice, and GFSI schemes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with NPD (New Product Development), Technical, Quality Assurance, and Procurement teams.
Liaise with suppliers to obtain accurate raw material data and certificates of analysis.
Communicate with customers to clarify specification requirements and resolve queries.
Data Accuracy & Integrity
Maintain databases of raw materials, finished products, allergens, and nutritional information.
Validate and verify data to ensure consistency and accuracy across systems.
Customer & Audit Support
Provide specification documentation for customer audits and technical reviews.
Respond to customer requests for product information, including allergen matrices and ingredient declarations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field.
Experience:
1–3 years in a technical or specification role within food manufacturing.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
Familiarity with retailer specification systems (e.g., Tesco, Asda, J Sainsburys, Morrisons).
Knowledge of food labelling regulations and allergen management.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and specification software.

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
