THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced fullstack-oriented Senior Software Engineer to take ownership of our newly built stack. Maintaining the CMS ingestion pipeline, writing performant and resilient APIs and deliver a brilliant experience to our user on our NextJS website.
You will also have the opportunity to work with Technical Architects, Delivery Managers, Business Analysts and Product Managers to influence the shape of our products.

The successful Senior Software Engineer will be a key member of a vibrant agile development team, looking to turn great ideas into engaging digital products, whilst maintaining and improving existing codebases. You will also have a real enthusiasm for writing clean, concise, testable code, along with knowledge of all things responsive.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE (Minimum criteria)
1. Excellent knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS
2. Excellent knowledge of Typescript
3. Excellent knowledge of NextJS or ReactJS
4. Excellent knowledge of NodeJS
5. Experience designing and developing APIs
6. Experience using Lambda, ApiGateway, SNS/SQS, Terraform
7. Experience using JS build tools – Grunt, Yarn, Webpack
8. Experience writing testable code (TDD, BDD or similar)
9. Understanding of performance optimisation on high traffic websites
10. Accessibility Standards
11. Responsive web design
12. Experience of working within an Agile software development environment
13. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
14. Excellent attention to detail
Desirable criteria
15. Experience designing and writing software for large scale applications in a fast changing environment with rapid release cycles.
16. Expertise in mainstream development frameworks.
17. Expertise in test driven development, broader testing and QA concerns.
18. Leadership experience of project working and professional software development processes, including agile.
19. Effective leadership and collaboration inside and beyond the team. The ability to influence diverse and senior stakeholders effectively.
20. Takes responsibility for delivering products and system to successful implementation.
21. Recruitment, management and mentoring experience.

PACKAGE DESCRIPTION
Job Reference: 11828
Band: D
Salary: £65000 - £79000 (plus London Weighting (£5164) for those with a London office base) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Flexible/Hybrid - the successful candidate will need to be able to travel to Television Centre, London ideally once per month, but can be based anywhere in the UK.
