About the Opportunity
Stantec’s market‑leading Technical and Environmental services group in the Water sector supports clients in the water industry, including water companies, regulators and research bodies across the UK and occasionally internationally. We also support energy and infrastructure projects.
You will join a friendly team of Hydrologists, contributing to high‑quality projects and applying digital modelling skills to real‑world challenges. Projects include enhancing the resilience of the public water supply, flood risk alleviation and sustainable drainage schemes.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess the flood risk impact of national infrastructure projects.
* Design Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems to mitigate the impacts of infrastructure projects.
* Support the development of the hydraulic aspects of Nature Based Solutions.
* Investigate the impact of the built environment on hydrology in 1D and 2D space.
* Deliver high‑quality solutions to environmental challenges in the water sector, involving both field and office work.
* Conceptualise, quantitatively analyse and report on hydrological systems and processes.
* Apply flood modelling and hydrological estimation software packages.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, applying catchment science principles.
* Learn fundamental project‑management principles, working within budget and scope, and liaising with other professionals.
* Develop skills in water resources, groundwater, river and coastal modelling, flood risk assessments, nature‑based solutions, drought analysis, climate change assessments and catchment management.
About You
* Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science or a related subject with a keen interest in hydrology.
* Adaptable – remaining calm in new and changing situations and switching between dynamic tasks.
* Persevering – staying composed in the face of setbacks and approaching challenges with confidence.
* Eager to learn – using experiences and the world around you to anticipate future challenges.
* Collaborative – working effectively with diverse stakeholders and considering others’ perspectives.
* Problem‑solving – offering well‑reasoned thoughts and challenging conventional thinking.
Please note, graduates are expected to work in the office 4 days per week to receive sufficient support and team engagement.
