Overview
We are looking for an experienced HCPC registered individual to join our Clinical Biochemistry Department as Quality Team Leader.
As part of the management team you will support the management team and the department in ensuring the effective and efficient provision of quality management systems across the service. You will promote clinical quality and the quality of service within all areas of the Laboratory to ensure the service is fit for purpose and meets the needs of service users.
Responsibilities
* Be one of the main leads for quality in the department, ensuring efficient delivery of quality management systems to all areas of the laboratory including affiliated IT systems.
* Maintain good communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and support staff within the department.
* Have knowledge and experience of clinical safety. Liaise with service users regarding quality of service to develop and maintain customer satisfaction.
* Ensure the departmental quality management system aligns with Pathology and wider Trust systems; provide information on quality indicators for Trust dashboards and service improvement.
* Maintain the quality of the analytical service to UKAS ISO 15189:2022 standards.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will, amongst other duties, be required to:
* Support the Clinical Biochemistry management team in the day-to-day running of the laboratory system and ensure the laboratory becomes progressively more effective in quality terms, meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements for UKAS, MHRA, HTA, and other relevant bodies.
* Co-operate with Trust Quality, Health & Safety Audit, Control of Records, Freedom of Information (FOI) and Clinical Governance departments.
* Liaise with UKAS, MHRA, HTA, and other relevant bodies.
* Maintain the quality of the analytical service to UKAS ISO 15189:2022 standards.
* Liaise with departmental Team Leaders and Laboratory Managers within Chemical Pathology.
* Ensure pathology policies and procedures are in place to form and maintain the Chemical Pathology Quality Management System, including document and record control, audit/nonconformity management, feedback, validation and verification procedures.
* Engage with inspectors/assessors to explain and demonstrate the functioning of the Quality Management System within Chemical Pathology.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Essential: Good basic education including literacy and numeracy; First or second-class degree; Master's degree or equivalent; Must be HCPC registered; Evidence of CPD (courses/meetings, quality improvement projects, etc.).
* Desirable: Additional relevant qualification (e.g., management qualification); Experience in training, mentoring and appraising others.
Knowledge and Skills
* Essential: IT literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet searches); good communication skills; ability to transcribe data accurately and quickly; able to interpret and critically assess detailed information; specialist knowledge of change management; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team; initiative and enthusiasm; strong organisational and time management skills.
* Desirable: Bronze QI Award.
Experience
* Essential: Extensive NHS experience; experience working with senior management in and outside of Pathology; expert knowledge of Quality Management; experience with Datix (clinical incident investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions); experience of testing digital systems and investigating digital issues; demonstrable continual improvement; experience in risk management and maintaining risk/hazard logs.
* Desirable: Experience working with/in Chemical Pathology; development of audit cycles; managing complex changes using change management/control processes.

* Essential: Good manual dexterity; ability to work with little supervision; calm, with a good attitude to work; good health; ability to work under pressure.
