We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engagement and Communications Manager to support the strategy for the Tackling Racial Disproportionality Steering Committee workstreams and the Independent Scrutiny Board. You will work closely with internal teams, partner organisations, and community groups to address disproportionality and improve outcomes for underrepresented communities.
You will play a vital role in supporting the Constabulary and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner in shaping communications that are clear, inclusive, and impactful. Your efforts will help ensure our initiatives are not only heard but truly understood by the people we serve.

Key Responsibilities
1. Build on an engagement and communications plan to support the long-term objectives of the Tackling Disproportionality Steering Committee.
2. Coordinate and lead a multi-agency communications group under the strategic Tackling Disproportionality Steering Committee.
3. Work in partnership with the multi-agency engagement and communications group, delivering activities as part of a shared communications plan across various channels, including traditional media and social media.
4. Create engaging content to tell the story and build the narrative of the work of the Avon and Somerset Tackling Disproportionality Steering Committee.
5. Lead the group in identifying opportunities to raise awareness of the committee's work among stakeholders and the public.
6. Provide professional advice to the Co-Chairs and member organisations on internal and external communications related to Tackling Racial Disproportionality.
7. Ensure all information provided to the press and public complies with legislation and policies.

* A degree in a communications-related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
* Recent and proven experience in strategic communications within a work or business environment, including partnership working.
* Experience in writing corporate briefings and reports.
* Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Additional Information
This role is blended, with part of your working week at Headquarters in Portishead and part from home, to be discussed at interview. Due to the nature of the role, you must be willing to work unsocial hours occasionally.
