THE ROLE
The Leather Artisan Assistant role is designed to train the next generation of skilled leatherworkers. Through hands-on experience and expert mentorship, the successful candidate will gain knowledge in traditional and contemporary leathercraft techniques, working on real products from design to finished piece.
Please note:This is a full-time, permanent position based in onsite from our beautiful Townhouse in Edinburgh City Centre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Learn and practice essential leatherworking skills including:
o Cutting, skiving, and edge-finishing
o Stitching (machine and hand)
o Pattern making and template
o Assembly and product construction
* Handle different types of leather and understand their properties
* Operate basic workshop tools and machinery (e.g., splitting machines, sewing machines, embossing tools)
* Assist senior artisans and technicians on live projects
* Maintain a clean and organized workspace
* Follow health and safety procedures
* Maintain documentation and learning logs
