FUSION HOUSING works across the Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield districts of West Yorkshire, providing help for our communities to find and maintain housing through legal advice, employment support, learning opportunities, supported accommodation and local food bank provision Painter & Decorator Hours: Full Time, 37 hours p/w Monday to Friday Salary: Band 3A * £24,432 to £25,418 per annum *subject to a 2% pay rise from 1 st Sept 2025 Contract: Permanent Location: Huddersfield (Pearl House, 10 John William Street, Huddersfield, HD1 1BA) covering Kirklees/Wakefield/Calderdale Fusion Housing are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Painter & Decorator to join our Repairs and Maintenance team. The role includes: Carrying out internal and external painting and decorating work including surface preparation, filling, sanding, undercoating, painting, wallpapering and finishing to a professional standard. Preparing and protecting areas prior to work to avoid damage and ensure safety. Assessing and reporting on the condition of surfaces and recommending additional repair work if necessary. Preparing surfaces for decorating, including sanding, priming, and filling to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality. Applying a range of finishes including emulsion, gloss, undercoat, stain, varnish, and wallpaper to various interior and exterior surfaces. Ensuring safe use of tools, ladders, scaffolding and materials in line with Fusion Housing’s Health and Safety policies. Maintaining and cleaning all tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and securely stored when not in use. Maintaining a clean and tidy work area and ensure all materials and equipment are stored appropriately. Carrying out minor maintenance tasks as required and that may arise during decorating work. Removing waste and debris from the work area and dispose of it responsibly. Completing records of work undertaken and materials used. Working safely at height using appropriate ladders, steps, or scaffolding equipment. The qualities we’re looking for: Someone who has experience as a Painter & Decorator NVQ Level 2 qualified or equivalent in Painting and Decorating Excellent Attention to detail and a strong work ethic You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own transport.
