The role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Integrated Communications to lead our eCommerce communications practice. This is a strategic role combining PR expertise with deep eCommerce knowledge to deliver integrated campaigns that drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and sales for our growing roster of retail and digital-native clients.

You will be responsible for developing integrated communication strategies that span earned media, owned channels, paid amplification, influencer partnerships, and content marketing. This role offers the opportunity to lead a talented team, drive business development, and shape how modern brands communicate in the competitive eCommerce landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

1. Develop and execute integrated communication strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes for eCommerce clients
2. Lead the P&L for assigned client accounts, ensuring profitability and growth
3. Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging platforms, particularly within eCommerce, retail tech, and consumer behavior
4. Champion best practices in integrated communications across the agency

Client Management & Business Development:

5. Manage relationships with C-suite and marketing leadership at key clients
6. Lead pitches and presentations for new business opportunities, particularly in eCommerce and DTC sectors
7. Identify cross-selling opportunities and develop integrated service offerings
8. Ensure exceptional client satisfaction and retention


Team Leadership:

9. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of account managers, strategists, and coordinators
10. Set performance standards and drive a culture of excellence and creativity
11. Foster collaboration across PR, content, digital, and influencer teams
12. Support team professional development and career progression


Campaign Development:

13. Oversee the creation of innovative, integrated campaigns that break through in the eCommerce space
14. Ensure all work demonstrates creativity, strategic thinking, and measurable ROI
15. Balance owned, earned, shared, and paid channels to maximize impact
16. Manage campaign timelines, budgets, and quality across all deliverables

Expertise in eCommerce Communications:

17. Understand eCommerce business models, customer journey, and key performance metrics (CAC, LTV, conversion rates)
18. Develop strategies that support customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value
19. Leverage product launches, seasonal campaigns, and data-driven insights in PR strategy
20. Navigate unique challenges of online retail including marketplace optimization, reviews and reputation, and community building

Required Experience

21. Background in PR, communications, or marketing with leadership/management experience
22. Proven track record of developing and executing integrated communications campaigns
23. Demonstrated experience working with eCommerce, DTC, or retail brands (preferably digital-native)
24. Strong understanding of earned media, content marketing, influencer partnerships, and digital channels
25. Ability to read and interpret eCommerce metrics and translate them into PR/communications strategy
26. Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional projects
27. Excellent project management and organizational skills
28. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities

Desired Skills & Attributes

29. Background in eCommerce, retail, or direct-to-consumer sectors
30. Experience with marketing technology, CRM platforms, and analytics tools
31. Knowledge of influencer marketing and community management
32. Crisis communications experience
33. Familiarity with media buying and paid social platforms
