A fantastic specialist Primary School based in Whitehaven are in need of an experienced SEND Primary Teaching Assistant to join them in September. The ideal person for the role will provide 1:1 support and also class support for a group of young people with Autism and Learning Disabilities. Some of the young people can present with challenging behaviour.
The role and ideal person:
* Will have previous experience working with young people or adults on the Autistic Spectrum – they may have knowledge of PECS or Makaton.
* Will be required to implement specific teaching programmes as instructed by a speech and language therapist and occupational therapist.
* Will also be responsible for ensuring the successful integration of the pupils into the class and school.
* Will be kind and caring, as well as having a proactive and nurturing attitude.
* Alongside the staff, will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

* Is easily accessible by public transport.
To be considered for this role you will need:
* Experience with ASD.
* Previous experience working with young people or adults with Autism.
* PECS and Makaton – not essential but highly desirable.
