Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for Catering Assistants and Kitchen Porters to join Team QEH.
As part of the Catering Team you will be assisting in all aspects of food preparation, delivery, service, wash-up/cleaning duties, till work and customer service relating to the provision of catering services to patients, staff and visitors.
Responsibilities
* Assist in all aspects of food preparation, delivery, service, wash-up and cleaning duties, and till work.
* Provide customer service related to catering services for patients, staff and visitors.
* Work across the Catering Department in areas such as the Main Kitchen, The Hub, and ward areas; emptying and cleaning food trolleys; cleaning the kitchen; accepting deliveries from the loading bay; transporting meal trolleys to and from wards; answering telephone orders from wards.
* Work in the central dishwasher, pot wash area and cleaning equipment of the main kitchen; serve meals for patients in the main kitchen.
* Work as part of a team to deliver a quality service in line with policies and procedures monitored by supervisory staff.
* Collaborate between the Kitchen, Dining Room and Wards to support service delivery.
Qualifications and Skills
* No formal qualifications required, but you must have good reading and writing skills.
* Previous experience in time and resource management and experience of working within a team.
* Able to work at various times throughout the day; department open from 6am through to 3am.
About The Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The Catering Department caters for 1,500 main meals daily, providing a service to patients, staff and visitors. Patients have a choice from individual menus served by trained staff using a belt system. Meals can be served on wards according to individual needs, and staff have access to a wide choice of meals in The Hub Dining Room.
