We welcome you to an ambitious and growing global company, where we take pride in what we achieve together.
At Hempel, we’re on a mission to double our impact, from decorative paint to marine coatings across the world. To succeed, we need your ideas, drive, and ambition.
We are redefining our global Procurement organization by introducing Global Category Management. This transformation enhances our ability to scale efficiently as we grow, which is why we are now scouting for four new Global Category Managers.
We seek strategic leaders passionate about developing and implementing comprehensive strategies for global product or service categories, aligned with our business objectives.
This is your opportunity to play a strategic role and influence our company's future success.
This role involves leading core category strategies with end-to-end accountability, collaborating with sourcing teams. It offers the chance to work with a diverse, high-performing global team. The position can be based in Spain (Polinyà), the UK (Darwen), Denmark (Kongens Lyngby), or Germany (Pinneberg), reporting to a Global Category Director.
What you can look forward to
This role involves owning market developments, adjusting category strategies, and optimizing costs and performance. Leading cost initiatives through market trend analysis, supplier selection, and negotiations in paints and coatings is key. Overseeing sourcing activities, including tenders, negotiations, and contract closure, is essential.
Managing the contract lifecycle—assessment, optimization, re-negotiation—is a core responsibility. Building strategic supplier relationships to meet cost, sustainability, and performance targets is crucial. Collaborating internally and externally ensures category performance exceeds expectations.
To succeed, you will need
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Procurement, or Supply Chain, with proven global category management experience. Expertise in strategy development and value-based pricing, strong analytical skills, and an understanding of sustainability are essential. Proficiency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.
Experience in Chemicals and Coatings industries is highly desirable, especially in categories like Alkyd & Polyester Resins, Plasticizers, Oils and Waxes, Extenders & Flatteners, Water Borne Binders, Additives, or Distributor Chemicals.
