Overview
My client in the Holmewood area require an experienced Mig Welder / Fabricator. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
* Perform MIG welding on mild steel components to produce strong, clean, and accurate welds.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols to determine specifications and materials required.
* Set up welding equipment, including voltage, wire feed, and shielding gas settings.
* Inspect and measure finished components using gauges and measuring tools to ensure conformance to tolerances.
* Carry out grinding, fettling, or minor fabrication as needed to complete parts.
* Follow all health and safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work area and tools.
* Report any defects, equipment faults, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
* Proven experience as a MIG Welder, ideally in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
* Strong understanding of welding mild steel to commercial or structural standards.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
* Basic fabrication skills including grinding, tacking, and assembly.
* Knowledge of welding safety procedures and practices.
* Experience using welding tools, jigs, and measuring instruments (verniers, tape measures).
* Certification in MIG welding (desirable but not essential).
* Forklift or overhead crane licence (advantageous, not required).
