Our learning support staff here at PeoplePlus work collaboratively with tutors and staff within Education to provide support to learners with neurodiverse and inclusion needs including those with disabilities. Their role is to promote an effective and inclusive learning environment, providing support to learners over the course of the working week and screening prisoners with low level reading ability. As a successful Learning Support Practitioner, you will be a passionate, creative, and empathetic towards our learners and be able to offer knowledge and guidance and support to learners with neurodiverse and inclusion needs including those with disabilities. The ideal candidate will be able to inspire and support learners throughout their academic and vocational studies.
This is a part time role working 30 hours per week, and fixed term for 6 months.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver education inductions.
* Work collaboratively with Tutors and education staff to provide support to learners with neurodivergent and inclusion needs, including disabled prisoners.
* Learning Support Plan creation.
* Support tutors with strategies to support learners with Additional Support for Learning needs.
* Liaise with other agencies within prison (healthcare, residential, social work) to ensure appropriate support plans are in place in prison.
* Promote an effective and inclusive learning environment and support learners over the work week.
* Screen prisoners with low level reading ability.
* Identify individual needs of learners, ensuring all learners have an individual learning plan linked to their future development and learning goals.
Support tutors / receive support from Tutors to prepare and review comprehensive lesson plans in line with current curricula models and pedagogies such as Curriculum for Excellence and Social Practice Approach to Adult learning.
