Careermakers are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to carry out inspections, MOT preparation, planned preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs on our fleet of HGV vehicles and trailers. The role is key to ensuring fleet compliance, safety, and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities

Service, maintain and repair HGVs and trailers in line with DVSA and operator licence requirements

Diagnose faults across hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
*
Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure full compliance documentation
*
Attend off-site breakdowns and transport vehicles when required
*
Conduct tyre and defect inspections
*
Maintain accurate service and repair records
*
Ensure workshop safety, cleanliness, and H&S compliance
*
Support junior mechanics and work collaboratively with transport and operations teams
Requirements
*
Relevant HGV repair qualification or equivalent experience
*
Proven experience in an HGV workshop environment
*
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
*
Good knowledge of HGV maintenance legislation and health & safety standards
*
Category C licence (essential)
*
Welding experience (desirable)
*
Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced team environment

* Competitive Hourly Rate DOE
* 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday (alternating weekly 6am-4pm / 10am-8pm)
* 1 in 2 Saturdays, 7am-12pm paid extra
