This full-service national law firm has grown significantly since its high street origins and now boasts 200+ staff across six offices. While offering services across most legal areas, private client work is a cornerstone of the business. The private client team works exclusively with HNW and UHNW individuals, supported by long-term institutional relationships with leading financial services providers.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a senior private client lawyer - either an experienced Senior Associate or a Partner - to join and help drive forward the firm's growing Bristol-based team. You’ll work with high-calibre colleagues, handle complex matters for affluent clients, and contribute to the team’s leadership, development and business growth. A clear path to partnership is available for strong Senior Associates. The environment is supportive, flexible, and suited to lawyers looking for long-term impact and career stability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Handle a caseload of complex HNW and UHNW private client matters - including estate planning, probate, wills, trusts, and cross-border work
• Build and manage relationships with introducers, clients, and financial institutions - develop your own client base and support firm growth
• Provide guidance and oversight to more junior team members, including legal executives, paralegals, and support staff
• Contribute to departmental targets and KPIs, including billing, recovery, WIP and utilisation
• Collaborate with colleagues in other offices (especially London and international teams) to deliver cross-jurisdictional solutions
• Attend internal partner/SAL-level meetings and contribute to wider strategic discussions where applicable
Requirements:
• Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years PQE in private client law
• Strong technical grounding in estate planning, trusts, wills, probate, and tax matters for HNW and UHNW clients
• Demonstrated ability to generate or develop private client work through networking, referrals, or institutional partnerships
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers or legal staff
• Commercial awareness and confidence in managing key performance metrics (chargeable hours, recovery, targets, etc.)
• Bristol or London-based - must have an active network and be embedded in the local private client market
