Overview

TSL was formed in 1987, and we are still growing. We require an additional person to help us expand our office in Minchinhampton. The candidate will need to have strong accounting, bookkeeping and interpersonal skills. Previous Practice and small company experience could be an advantage. The role could be full or part time (with a minimum of 12 hours per week) on regular defined days. Actual hours can be arranged to suit.

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with accounts preparation to beyond trial balance, being able to produce final monthly management accounts and final draft year-end stats for review by a more senior accountant. The role would ideally suit an experienced accountant or bookkeeper (formally qualified or QBE) who is looking for more variety than a single "client" working environment can offer.

Salary: Depending on experience/hours Range £27-35k FTE

Other: BUPA after qualifying periods. Holiday entitlement: 22 days per annum pro rata, increasing by 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 25.

TSL offers Clients a full range of Accounting and Business Consulting services from two main offices, located in Bath and Minchinhampton, near Stroud. The current role is to be based in Minchinhampton, with some limited travel to Client sites and our other office.

Part of our service range is the provision of monthly (or quarterly) management accounts prepared by our accounts staff from the Clients' own information which is either supplied to us to process in house, or which is reviewed and amended at their site.

Each full time Assistant accountant works with up to 20 different clients on a regular basis and prepares management accounts for internal review and submission to the Client. Clients for this type of ongoing work are Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.

The role requires a combination of financial and communication skills. The work itself is varied, and because of the number of different Clients, the right candidate must be very organised, and thrive on the variety of work. Minchinhampton is a small friendly office, so candidates will be expected to provide cover from time to time and assist other staff with other relevant work at peak times.

TSL runs a separate payroll bureau, and of course senior staff are on hand to provide technical and management support.

Sound accounting theory and / or hands on experience is essential, and the role will require real working knowledge of Sage, Excel and Word on a daily basis.

Detailed responsibilities

* Preparation of ongoing management and financial accounts, including VAT and standard reconciliations, for multiple Clients, usually using Sage, from original documents right through to finished accounts.
* Preparation of draft year end accounts for review, including all reconciliations.
* Review of ongoing accounts, preparation of cashflows and forecasts where appropriate.
* Regular communication with Clients – telephone, email, fax, some onsite visits.
* Project assistance in-office, and ad hoc supporting work including preparation of traditional accounts (ie incomplete records/ "box" jobs)
