As a Senior Integration Developer, you will serve as an integral member of the Integration Team, specialising in the development of strategic IT solutions, with particular emphasis on interoperability and system integration. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering key components of our Trust’s overall strategy, ensuring seamless connectivity between platforms and services.
You will collaborate with colleagues across the RM Digital Services Team, as well as the connect team, EPIC and GOSH, contributing to complex projects that require a blend of technical proficiency and comprehensive solution design. Alongside project responsibilities, you will provide ongoing support for live systems, maintaining service levels and ensuring high standards of customer satisfaction.
Within this position, you will act as the technical integration lead on major initiatives and serve as a Subject Matter Expert in critical application domains. Furthermore, you will contribute to team development by mentoring junior developers and leading technical workshops that promote knowledge sharing and innovation.
Main duties of the job
The Trust has an ambitious Digital Transformation strategy based on new technology to transform cancer care, staff experience, and the way in which patients and families experience our services.
The programme to deliver this strategy involves the replacement of large parts of the enterprise architecture over the period 2019-24. Included in this is the implementation of a new Electronic Patient Record, a new Data Warehouse and integration of class-leading solutions into a modern, scalable and flexible enterprise architecture.
The postholder will be a core member of the Integration Team, responsible for developing key new IT solutions in the strategic replacement programme, focused on integration and interoperability as their specialist technical field.
The postholder will work closely with wider members of the RM Digital Services Team, especially on complex projects requiring a mix of technical skills across the overall solution design and build.
The postholder will also provide BAU support to in-use solutions, ensuring service level agreements and high levels of customer satisfaction are met.
The postholder will serve as technical integration lead on major projects and will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in key application areas.
The postholder will mentor less experienced members of Integration Team and will contribute to and lead technical workshops on a wide range of topics.

• Develop integration and interoperability solutions in accordance with Trust development standards and the guidance of the Integration Development Manager.
• Build extensible data acquisition and integration solutions to meet the functional and non-functional requirements of the business.
• Implement processes and logic to extract, transform, and distribute data across one or more data stores from a wide variety of sources.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Master’s degree in a computer science or related subject, or equivalent experience in large-scale, complex IT solution implementations involving integration/interoperability

2. ITIL V3 certified

3. Extensive experience of working on business-led IT projects as a software developer/integration engineer.
4. Significant recent experience of detailed working with industry-standard integration engines.
5. Significant experience of integration/interoperability development within a healthcare setting.
6. Successful track record of project delivery across the entire IT systems project lifecycle.
7. Experienced in technical management
8. Experienced in liaising with software suppliers and mentoring technical IT staff.

9. Working experience of the InterSystems Toolset, including Cache database, HealthConnect/HealthShare integration platform.
10. Experience of clinical software manufacture and deployment.
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
Essential criteria
11. Advanced knowledge of healthcare integration technologies and standards, such as HL7, IHE, FHIR
12. Advanced skills in information flow analysis and data mapping between systems, able to design solutions to support all necessary information flows.
13. Industrial grade programming skills, fully conversant with several of the following languages and technologies: Cache Object Script, JavaScript, C#, SQL, HTML, XML, XSLT, XDS, SOAP/RESTful Web Services.
14. Knowledge of information security and data protection in respect of patient and clinical information.
15. Good organizing skills with attention to detail and the need for accuracy.
16. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across organizations
17. Comfortable working to agreed objectives, delivering on a complex project plan and taking responsibility without supervision for completion of tasks
18. Strong delivery focus and able to meet tight deadlines within the pressures of working in a busy environment.

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
