The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is seeking to appoint an experienced senior IT Technician to join a small IT team supporting a community of researchers and staff within a modern research facility.
The Institute offers a busy but friendly working environment, and the role would suit self-motivated candidates with communication skills of a high standard.
The successful applicant will assist with the management and development of the full IT infrastructure within CIMR, as well as providing a flexible support service to researchers and administrative staff.
This position offers an excellent variety of IT work for an experienced all-rounder, and will include staff support in office and laboratory areas, regular server, storage and network maintenance tasks, and planned projects.
Applicants should be educated to degree level, and will be expected to have at least 5 years' experience in the following areas:
1. TCP/IP switching and routing (Cisco preferred)
2. Linux system administration
3. Windows and Mac desktop support
4. Current PC hardware
5. Windows Server and Active Directory
6. MySQL, PHP/Python and web development
7. Audio Visual facilities
This is a full-time role (36.5 hours/week working Monday-Friday) for 2 years in the first instance and is based on-site at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
CIMR's mission is to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health.
