UL Solutions' Built Environment department in Telford is hiring! We're looking for a Laboratory Project Engineer who will be focused on safety testing fenestration (doors and windows) products, splitting your time between between project handling/managing and hands on testing on specific projects. As a Laboratory Project Engineer you will work directly with the customer to oversee their projects, communicating with them from start of the enquiry and throughout the test setup phase to ensure proper evaluation and operations, as well as the completion of the project. Alongside overseeing the customer and their projects, you'll also be responsible for hands-on testing in our lab. You also have a genuine opportunity to grow your career here, in a small, close-knit team with good people. - Work with the customer to scope-out projects, define the test setup and evaluate and report on test results - Complete testing and witness testing, following complex defined test plans and datasheets with necessary supervision / support - Evaluate test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results - Record and explain test results and complete test reports - Communicate project status and results as needed - Direct, build and/or adapt simple test setups and equipment for assigned work, based on test plans and instructions from engineering teams - Operate and maintain complex test equipment appropriately to measure and test customer samples - Perform complex maintenance on designated test equipment and laboratory area - Communicate with management and technical staff to provide suggestions for new equipment, processes, and forms to improve accuracy and efficiencies - Collaborate closely with both testing and certification teams - Take part in UKAS assessments - University Degree in Engineering (in related field of work) or equivalent work experience in a relatable environment - e.g. construction industry, civil projects or a form of product testing in a laboratory - If you have experience of curtain walling/rainscreen cladding or windows/doors testing, you'll be at a distinct advantage - You'll have experience of working directly with customers and have delivered projects whilst maintaining high standards and exceptional customer service - Exposure to testing, including setting up test rigs and evaluating test results - Exceptional communication skills, both with internal teammates and external customers - Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must LI-AV1 A global leader in applied safety science, UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS) transforms safety, security and sustainability challenges into opportunities for customers in more than 110 countries.
