Position: Van Pack Drainage Engineer
Location: Millbrook Depot, Hampshire Region (Southampton, Hampshire). After competency tests you will work door‑to‑door across the region.
Job type: Permanent, full‑time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week
Salary: £30,500 per annum

About the Role
Working on the Southern Water contract, you will deliver effective solutions to wastewater and drainage problems while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and customer service.
Responsibilities
* Travel to residential sites in a van and operate a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
* Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
* Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
* Run diagnostics and repair drains.
* Deliver good customer service.
* Maintain health‑and‑safety practices while carrying out works.
* Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.Comply with health and safety responsibilities (PPE, safe site set‑ups, protection of Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users).
* Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
* Work unsupervised in all weather conditions using correct PPE, lone worker system, etc.
* Dynamically risk‑assess site access & working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
* Liaise with the client regarding progress and any updates.
* Provide support to your colleagues.
* Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
* Report any defects or malfunctions in regards to training.
* Carry out risk assessments and maintain a mature approach to risk perception.
* Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
* Perform any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management.
Qualifications
* Full UK driver’s licence.
* Experience with high‑pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential.
* Other drainage qualifications (e.g., NRSWA, confined spaces) are an advantage.
* Ability to work safely, diagnose problems quickly and deliver practical and efficient solutions to attain high levels of customer satisfaction.
