Were currently helping a leading client in the defence sector find an experienced SC Cleared Network Engineer to join their dynamic team. Location & Working Arrangements Based in Corsham, Wiltshire, or Portsmouth, Hampshire, this role offers a flexible hybrid working pattern2 to 3 days per week onsite. Role Overview As a Network Engineer, you will be integral to supporting the core physical and virtual networking components that underpin the NSoIT(D) Platform. Your expertise will help ensure secure, resilient, and efficient infrastructure for defence applications. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, building, and validating networking solutions, producing detailed design artefacts, and working closely with the wider technical team to support system testing and issue resolution. What Were Looking For The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 3 years proven experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Your skill set should include in-depth knowledge of hierarchical IP subnetting, BGP, OSPF routing protocols, and advanced experience with Cisco Nexus, IOS XE, VXLAN overlay networks, dual cloud solutions, and firewall management including IPS/IDS. Certifications such as CCNP or equivalent, and VMware VCP-NV qualification are highly desirable. Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and experience working within the defence or public sector are also important. Essential Skills & Experience Minimum 3 years industry experience focused on network design and troubleshooting Proven expertise with core network technologies and infrastructure Working knowledge of VLANs, VXLAN, and dual cloud solutions Ability to produce and review detailed network design artefacts Valid SC security clearance Competent in MS Office Suite Desirable Skills Defence sector experience, particularly Defence Digital Knowledge of secure network solutions and architectures in multi-tenanted environments Experience working within Agile (SAFE4) and Waterfall project environments Familiarity with Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence A Computer Science degree or equivalent, with Chartered Engineer status being a bonus Details & Benefits This is a two-year contract opportunity starting in April 2026, offering a negotiable day rate (inside IR35).
