About the Role
We are looking for a Director of Product Design to lead a team of designers, shape design direction, and ensure intuitive, effortless experiences for our users. The role can be based in Barcelona, Edinburgh or London with hybrid work two days in office per week.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead product design for your area: establish design direction, set quality standards, and ensure excellent and impactful work.
* Operate with a company-wide lens: contribute to how design quality and consistency scale across Skyscanner.
* Drive product strategy through design: shape what gets built, bring a user perspective to early conversations, and advocate for decisions that create value.
* Develop your team: coach and grow designers, build a culture of craft, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
* Collaborate across disciplines: work closely with Product and Engineering leadership, and partner with Design, Research, Content and Brand Design to maintain coherence with design standards.
* Influence without authority: represent design credibly at senior level, align stakeholders, and make the case for design investment.
* Measure what matters: define success through customer insights, business metrics, and design quality signals, and use them to improve outcomes.
About You
* Experienced product design leader with a track record of building and guiding high-performing teams in complex digital environments.
* Strong product instincts and strategic mindset as well as a comfort with interaction details.
* Technically confident and able to translate design decisions to engineering with knowledge of front-end technologies and tooling.
* AI-curious and forward-looking, building a point of view on how AI impacts product design.
* Influential collaborator capable of navigating complex organisations, building trust with senior stakeholders, and communicating across disciplines.
* People-first leader who values talent development, inclusive environments and helping teams achieve their best work.
