About WMPF

WMPF is one of the UK’s largest pension funds providing local authority pension benefits for employees across the West Midlands. We manage and administer the pension interests of over 330,000 scheme members, 800+ employers and currently have over £21 billion in assets under management.

We are recruiting for Regulatory Change Lead to join our continually growing Pension Operations Service area. Our brand-new offices are based at the i9 building in Wolverhampton and is an excellent location for transport links by car, bus, train and tram.

What the day will look like

As Regulatory Change Lead, you will support and deputise for the Technical Manager, providing technical leadership and regulatory oversight across Pension Operations.

Responsibilities include:

* Leading the implementation of regulatory change across the Fund, ensuring new and updated LGPS regulations, legislation and industry guidance are effectively assessed, designed and embedded
* Acting as the Subject Matter Expert for regulatory change, ensuring compliance and technical accuracy across Pension Operations
* Horizon scanning for legislative and regulatory developments and assessing operational impact
* Leading delivery of key annual regulatory exercises, including Annual Benefit Statements, Pension Taxation and Pensions Increase
* Providing authoritative guidance on complex regulatory matters and setting technical standards
* Leading regulatory and technical input into system developments and enhancements
* Ensuring workflows, calculations, letters and system outputs remain compliant and robust
* Line managing and developing the Regulatory Analyst
* Promoting a strong control environment and a culture of continuous improvement
* Preparing management information, technical guidance and internal reporting
* Representing the Fund at relevant forums and supporting attendance at sub-committees and decision panels

You will work closely with the Regulatory Advisory Lead and Regulatory Technical Lead to ensure a cohesive and compliant regulatory function across the Fund.

About you

You will be an experienced pensions professional with significant knowledge of LGPS regulations and overarching UK pensions legislation. You will bring substantial experience applying LGPS regulations in practice and a strong background in regulatory technical compliance and change implementation.
