Senior Legal Counsel
Overview
* Our client is Top 20 UK Law Firm who seek to recuit a Senior Legal Counsel to join their General Counsel team in Birmingham. You will be advising on complex regulatory and legal issues, including SRA regulation, data protection and anti-money laundering, sanctions, and compliance obligations.
Responsibilities
* Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies.
* Provide sound legal advice and guidance to various departments on commercial matters, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and resolve legal issues efficiently.
* Manage and mitigate legal risks by proactively identifying potential legal challenges.
* Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and communicate their impact to the business.
* Work closely with external legal advisors when necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
* Contribute to developing and implementing legal strategies that support company growth and ethical standards.
Qualifications
* Qualified Solicitor with relevant legal experience, preferably in an in‑house commercial legal counsel role.
* Strong experience and expertise in commercial contracts, negotiation, and contract management.
* Excellent knowledge of UK corporate, commercial, and contract law.
* Proven ability to work confidently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to explain complex legal matters clearly.
* Proactive mindset with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.

Day‑to‑day
* Providing timely legal support and advice on commercial issues.
* Reviewing contracts and agreements to ensure legal compliance and protect company interests.
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and provide tailored legal solutions.
* Keeping abreast of legal developments relevant to the company's operations.
* Participating in team meetings, training, and continuous professional development activities.
* Supporting the legal team in managing workload and prioritising tasks effectively.
