A solid understanding of PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) is essential for this role, as support must be delivered in a way that prioritises autonomy and reduces anxiety. This Autism Specialist position focuses on connection rather than compliance, and flexibility rather than fixed routines. About the Autism Specialist Role In this Autism Specialist role, you will offer tailored one-to-one support that helps the individual feel safe, understood, and in control. The person you'll be supporting presents with a PDA profile, so you'll need to work creatively, adaptively, and collaboratively rather than relying on traditional directive methods.
