Saddleworth Medical Practice have an opportunity for a salaried GP to join our supportive, forward‑thinking, well‑established team.
About The Role
6 sessions per week – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
12 month fixed‑term salaried position.
Competitive rate of pay, protected learning time, in‑practice mentor, MDDUS fees paid by practice.
Main duties include rapid assessment, telephone & video consultations, face‑to‑face consultations, emergencies & queries, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, dealing with queries, patient test results, medical reports and examinations, referral letters, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health‑care workers within the organisation.
* Clear and contemporaneous IT‑based consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Data collection for audit purposes.
* Compilation and issuance of computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand‑written prescriptions whenever possible).
* Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.
* All normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About Us
Practice population: 14,000. Semi‑rural location.
Team: 4 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 2 Pharmacists, 2 Community Matrons, 5 Practice Nurses, 2 HCA, 20 Admin Support.
Clinical system: EMIS. Training practice, Greater Manchester Unified Learning Environment. CQC Rated Good. High QOF achievement. Active member of our Primary Care Network.
Job Details
* Hours of work: Six sessions per week plus equitable shares of home visits, on‑call duties and cover partners on holiday.
* Contract type: 12 month fixed‑term salaried GP position.
* Location: Uppermill Health Centre, Smithy Lane, Uppermill, Oldham, OL3 6AH.
* Annual leave: Six weeks annual leave plus public/bank holidays (FTE or pro‑rata).
* Study leave: One week per annum pro‑rata.
* Salary: dependent on experience.
* Reference number: A5333‑26‑0003.
Qualifications
* Vocationally trained and accredited GP, preferably with MRCGP.
* Current registration with the GMC and appropriate representation with a recognised medical defence organisation.
* Current DBS check.
* Good knowledge of and interest in general practice and primary care.
* Initiative, creativity and motivation.
* Collegial team spirit, comfortable in a multidisciplinary team.
* Consultative approach, collaborative.
* Interest in a particular disease area and willingness to take a leadership role.
* Good working knowledge and interest in national primary care strategies.
* Ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads and work strategically.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong IT proficiency with primary care clinical systems (EMIS, Docman, TQuest, Accurx) and the Microsoft suite.
* Proven ability to handle a busy primary care caseload and support the team.
* Understanding of primary care contracting and national schemes.
