Waste Engineering - Hazard Assessment Coordinator

£56-61/hour Inside IR35
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Hazard Assessment Coordinator to support a major nuclear decommissioning programme. You will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of hazard assessments across multiple worksites, ensuring safe, compliant, and traceable management of radiological, asbestos, COSHH, and hazardous materials.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate hazard assessment and characterisation activities across worksites
Develop and maintain hazard registers and hazard assessment plans
Coordinate radiological, asbestos, COSHH, and sampling surveys
Ensure hazard data is integrated into decommissioning and waste management plans
Act as the key interface between survey teams, engineers, and stakeholders
Support compliance with regulatory, safety, and programme requirements
Conduct safety audits and support risk mitigation activities
Requirements
Essential:
Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
5-10+ years' experience in nuclear, hazard assessment, or decommissioning environments
Experience with radiological hazards, asbestos, COSHH, or waste characterisation
Strong understanding of UK regulatory and safety frameworks
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teamsDesirable:
Radiation Protection, Hazard Assessment, or Waste Management certifications
Experience on nuclear licensed sites
