Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join our mental health pharmacy team as a part time (up to 28.5), Band 6, senior technician to provide technical leadership across our in-patient units.
This is an established post that will support the Penn Hospital team as well as our other units. You will work alongside our pharmacists and expand your clinical knowledge through in-house training and attending professional courses.
The role will also support the delivery of specialist Mental Health clinical trials.

* Work in close conjunction with the Chief Technician over matters concerning pharmaceutical supply and storage of medicines
* Supporting outpatient clinics such as our Clozapine Service and Home treatment
* Ensuring correct storage and handling of pharmaceuticals in accordance with relevant SOPs/ Standards.
* Supervising pharmacy technicians, student technicians and other support staff working within pharmacy specialist area(s).

This role is part time based over a 5-day (Mon-Fri) working week, with no expectation to take part in an evening, weekend, or bank holidays rota. Working pattern to be agreed at interview

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is an exciting time to be involved in the transformation of how mental health services are delivered on the wards and in the community and you will be instrumental in providing medicines management and optimisation services for the benefit of service users. You will need to be resourceful, able to manage your time effectively and prioritise your own workload. You should have previous hospital experience on in-patient units, with mental health experience being desirable, although not essential.

Most NHS roles are paid under NHS Agenda for Change. With us - your starting point is set against the advertised band and your relevant NHS service, with progression through annual increments.

Standards and checks
· Clinical posts up to and including Band 4 are expected to hold the Care Certificate. If you don't have it yet, we'll support you to complete it in post.
· Some roles require a Standard or Enhanced DBS check under part V of the Police Act 1997. Having a criminal record won't automatically prevent employment. We consider the role and individual circumstances.
