Job Overview
Community Staff Nurse – District Nursing Service at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT). This 7‑day service requires working weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis across day and night shifts. Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a vehicle, and be able to travel independently within the locality.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Clinical Team Leader/Team Sister in coordinating and delivering care in line with national and local District Nursing Strategy.
* Conduct multiple daily home visits to provide high‑quality nursing care for individuals with diverse and often complex healthcare needs.
* Perform comprehensive holistic assessments, formulate personalised care plans, and deliver clinical interventions including wound management, health promotion, medicines management, and end‑of‑life care.
* Adhere to professional standards set by the NMC Code and demonstrate safe, effective, compassionate care.
* Problem‑solve, respond to change, seek guidance when appropriate, and consistently apply evidence‑based practice while pursuing career development within District Nursing.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Registered General Nurse (RGN).
* Desirable: non‑medical prescribing qualification.
* Essential experience: multi‑disciplinary working and community work experience.
Work‑Related Knowledge and Skills
* Essential: ability to adapt to the needs of the service, work independently, knowledge of professional and NHS issues, and strong clinical knowledge and skills.
* Desirable: ability to deputise in the absence of the Senior Nurse and evidence of implementing change.
Personal Attributes
* Essential: willingness to work out of different bases, ability to adapt to change, readiness to work rotational hours across day and night shifts, and organisational skills.
* Other: full UK driving licence with vehicle access for patient visits.
