Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Systems Implementation Engineer who will contribute to the specification, design, implementation, support and training of condition monitoring systems for deployment to users in the power industry, globally. The Senior Systems Implementation Engineer will support the team with implementation of solutions starting with customer requirements and see projects through to completion. This role will be based at our Bere Regis UK office reporting to the Director of the Innovation Centre for Online Systems (ICOS).
Essential Job Functions
* Work with the team to create condition monitoring system proposals for power industry applications
o Understanding the installed environment of condition monitoring systems for the power industry
o Awareness and adherence to safety regulations at the customer location
o Assist with authoring technical proposals
o Working with customers to determine requirements
* Distributed condition monitoring system design
o Working with the team on system design to industry standards
o Working with customers in a co‑design environment to ensure design acceptance
* System configuration
o Configuration of monitoring devices and peripherals, e.g. PLC
o Creation data acquisition and UI applications, e.g. SCADA
o Configuration of distributed data networks
* Customer documentation
o Contribution to O&M documents for project completion
o Taking ownership of complete document packages
* Technical support for installation and commissioning teams
o Take the lead on support activities for projects
o Understanding of deployed equipment and ability to configure and troubleshoot
o Interpretation of system data
* System commissioning and maintenance
o Attending customer sites to commission systems delivered by Doble
o Present training to customers on use of commissioned systems
o Maintain existing Doble systems, including troubleshooting and repair
* Technical communication
o Effectively communicate complex system designs and data to customers and site teams using clear and simple language to ensure project alignment and successful delivery
Qualifications
Education
* Degree in an engineering discipline, ideally electrical engineering or similar. Demonstrable experience in appropriate areas will add weight to qualifications.
* 10 years of experience in electrical utility engineering or operations, including experience with substation equipment or systems, will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Required Experience
* A minimum of 5 years of power industry experience.
* Understanding of electrical circuits and schematics.
* Demonstrable site safety experience.
* Data interpretation skills to support condition monitoring decisions.
* Proficient use of document authoring tools: Microsoft Office and associated applications.
* Demonstration of strong system integration skills.
* Practical experience in troubleshooting monitoring and diagnostic equipment in the field.
* Site safety certification history.
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
* Experience in high voltage or industrial environments.
* Experience in interacting with field staff.
* Design: 2D CAD.
* Communication protocols: Modbus, DNP3, MQTT, IEC61850.
* SCADA system and gateway configuration.
* Site safety training.
* Factory acceptance testing.
* System commissioning.
* Working in teams distributed across locations and time zones.
* Good practical skills.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use office machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co‑workers and customers.
