Materials Engineer - Recent PhD Graduate
A pioneer of novel instrumentation in Cambridge is seeking a research PhD graduate to work on next-generation materials. Newton Colmore is assisting with their search.
The company prefers a recent physics or electronics PhD graduate ready to apply academic knowledge in industry. You will work on complex projects aimed at developing robust and versatile materials to address various challenges across multiple applications. A key focus is using materials to decarbonise emission-heavy devices and systems.
You will collaborate with engineers and scientists in a multidisciplinary team, scoping new ideas and concepts, and managing these through the entire development process. The company has a strong track record of bringing innovations to market, and this role offers the opportunity to contribute to that legacy. Given the nature of the work, this could be an excellent first industry role, with exciting projects on the horizon.
To be considered, candidates should ideally possess:
* Strong academic background in materials, from physics, materials science, or electronics
* A curious personality and enthusiasm for developing new ideas
* Understanding of experimental testing and data acquisition
* Experience in constructing theories for new and existing materials
