We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Scrub Team Leader to join our dedicated Orthopaedic Surgical Teams at Chorley and District Hospital. The role involves leading a specialist team within Orthopaedic theatres, ensuring the highest standards of peri‑operative care and delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients undergoing Orthopaedic surgery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate theatre activity, support junior staff, and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver high‑quality care.
- Ensure planning, delivery and evaluation of care meets personalised health and wellbeing needs of patients in line with Trust values, HCPC and NMC professional frameworks.
- Maintain a well‑organised and safe environment; monitor and uphold standards of care and professional practice.
- Act as a role‑model, encouraging and supporting professional development of team members and students.
- Provide clinical supervision and direction for all colleagues and students, helping them reach their full potential.
- Assist the Clinical Manager with safe and effective management of the service, including staff, facilities and associated systems.
- Communicate relevant information to the MDT internally and with external organisations to ensure seamless care.
- Identify potential bottlenecks and facilitate smooth patient flow through the department.
- Proactively manage risk, maintain patient safety, and comply with health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Promote patient education, health promotion, and equality in care by recognising and respecting the needs and choices of individuals.
- Ensure the environment of care is safe, well‑equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
- Participate in education and training of junior staff, encouraging professional growth and development.
- Maintain and develop own professional competence and extend knowledge and skills within the scope of the role and professional practice.
- Demonstrate and maintain competence in anaesthetic practice (ODP’s).
