Band 5 Biomedical Scientist/Healthcare Science Practitioner
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post.
Applications are invited for a band 5 HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join our professional team.
You will be expected to support the department in ensuring a high-quality service that meets national standards and expectations towards UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).

Note: Interviews will be held in-person and will include delivering a short (approximately 3-minute) presentation. The topic will be provided to candidates 30 minutes prior to the interview.
For the main duties of the role, please see the attached Job Description, which includes:
1. Following the POCT Policy, laboratory guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all Trust policies.
2. Performing all technical procedures with a high level of skill and dexterity to ensure quality performance of POCT devices used in patient care.
3. Troubleshooting, assessing, and rectifying POCT device or IT failures using established procedures, and deciding on the course of action, reporting non-functioning devices to the section manager or supplier as appropriate.
4. Delivering training on POCT devices and liaising with healthcare professionals by phone, email, and in person to provide a safe and effective POCT service, requiring tact and diplomacy.
5. Understanding the role of POCT in NHS service provision and using knowledge and skills to drive innovation for better patient care.
