Senior Electrical Design Engineer Newcastle Upon Tyne £40,000-£60,000 per year (DOE) Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a well-established M&E consultancy based in Newcastle upon Tyne, for the appointment of a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their strong engineering team. With a strong project portfolio spanning healthcare, education, commercial, residential, and public sector infrastructure, this client delivers high-quality, bespoke electrical and mechanical design solutions across the full project lifecycle. Role Overview As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from concept through to completion. You will play a key role in ensuring technical quality, regulatory compliance, and efficient delivery of projects across the North East and beyond. Senior Electrical Engineer – Key Responsibilities * Deliver detailed electrical designs, specifications, and reports using software such as Amtech, AutoCAD, and Dialux, in line with current UK standards and client expectations. * Oversee and manage electrical elements of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. * Conduct site surveys, inspections, and attend client/design team meetings as a key technical contact. * Work collaboratively with the mechanical team and wider disciplines to ensure fully coordinated M&E solutions. * Provide mentoring and technical support to junior engineers and technicians within the team. * Maintain a strong understanding of industry developments and regulatory changes to inform design decisions. Senior Electrical Engineer – Key Requirements * Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline (BEng/MEng). * Minimum 5 years’ experience in building services consultancy, with a proven track record of delivering electrical designs in sectors such as education, healthcare, and commercial. * Experience with industry software tools including Amtech, AutoCAD, Dialux/Relux, and ideally Revit MEP. * Familiarity with current building regulations, British Standards, and CIBSE guidelines. * Chartered or working toward Chartered status with the IET or CIBSE is highly desirable. * Strong organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with a client-focused approach.
