Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness? Do you have a strong understanding of housing legislation and the complex factors that lead to rough sleeping? If so, we want to hear from you.

As the Senior Rough Sleeping Case Officer within the Rough Sleeping Prevention & Recovery Team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness. Working within a dynamic and expanding team, you will deliver targeted interventions, build trust with entrenched rough sleepers, and coordinate wraparound support through multi-agency partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

* Organise and provide proactive outreach and engagement with individuals sleeping rough.
* Assess needs and develop personalised support plans focused on prevention and recovery.
* Navigate housing legislation to secure appropriate accommodation and tenancy sustainment alongside the Housing Officer.
* Work collaboratively with health, social care, and voluntary sector partners.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to strategic planning and service development.

Essential Skills & Experience

* In-depth knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation.
* Understanding of the structural and personal causes of rough sleeping.
* Experience working with vulnerable individuals, including those with complex needs.
* Strong communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Due to the nature of this outreach role, you must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain (e.g., wooded areas, common land, fields, near rivers and waterway) and in adverse weather conditions to engage with individuals sleeping rough. These physical requirements are essential to the role. Post holder can walk over 20,000 steps in one outreach session

This role involves regular travel across a wide rural district, with multiple site visits on a regular basis, so the ability to independently and reliably travel as part of your daily duties is essential .The role will require occasional early morning starts when going out in the field to speak to rough sleepers.

Experience in tenancy sustainment, life skills coaching, or floating support and knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and safeguarding practices is desirable as training on this can be provided.
