Building Surveyor, Permanent role, Cambridge, Salary up to £45,000, Hybrid with 1-2 days in office. Your new company Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking to make a meaningful impact through your work? We’re recruiting for a professional and motivated individual to join a dedicated Property Services team, helping to ensure that homes and buildings across the region are safe, compliant and well maintained. This is a hybrid role, combining office-based working (typically 1–2 days per week) with frequent travel to sites across the East of England. Your new role As a Building Surveyor, you’ll deliver high-quality surveying services across a varied portfolio of domestic and commercial properties. You’ll work closely with tenants, colleagues, contractors and external partners to support the wider Asset Management Strategy and ensure standards are met across the region. Key Responsibilities Conduct stock condition surveys, maintenance surveys, inspections, defect diagnosis and HHSRS assessments, with a particular focus on damp and mould. Prepare technical documents, including specifications, drawings, floor plans, tender packs and cost estimates. Ensure compliance with building regulations, planning requirements, CDM, and all relevant health and safety legislation. Manage contractors and oversee programmes of planned and major works, ensuring quality and value for money. Support procurement, service improvement initiatives, policy development and data analysis. Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota and champion best practice in safeguarding and health & safety. What you'll need to succeed You’ll bring a strong technical background and a professional, pragmatic approach to your work. You’ll be confident working in occupied homes, including supporting tenants with a wide range of needs.What You'll Need Significant experience of working as a surveyor in a similar role/organisation Strong knowledge of building construction, repairs, maintenance and compliance requirements. Experience in contract administration, site inspections and managing contractors. Ability to produce accurate specifications, reports, drawings and cost estimates. Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel and CAD software. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (regular travel required). What you'll get in return - Why Join Us?
