Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated Mental Health team at HMP Lewes. HMP Lewes is a busy category B remand prison based in East Sussex. This role is based within the inpatient unit on site, where you will be completing ward rounds, hospital referrals, mental health meds prescribing, as well as working alongside another Psychiatrist and the wider multidisciplinary team to discuss patients' transition into general population. You will be working with male patients, aged 21+ who have a range of complex mental health needs and acute trauma.

Hours
* 2 sessions / 8 hours to be worked on either a Monday or Friday
* 2 hours of CPD can be done on the same working day or from home
Salary
This position is part time working 10 hours per week. You’ll receive an annual salary up to £180,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite
* Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
* Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviews

Qualifications
* Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
* Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
* Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD
* Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
