Due to continued growth, we currently have an opportunity for a Managing Building Surveyor to join our established team in London & South-East. This role has excellent prospects for an individual who has a strong ambition to progress and enjoys working collaboratively within a vibrant team. As well as technical competence, we are looking for someone with the ability to think laterally, who possesses exemplary communication skills, has strong commercial awareness, who will provide a first-class service to our clients.
Our London & South-East Building Surveying team is going from strength to strength, with a diverse pipeline of projects across the retail, health, energy, commercial property, residential, education and public sectors. We now need another experienced Surveyor to join our team!
As a Managing Building Surveyor, you'll play a central role on some of the UK's most significant projects. Your portfolio will vary across retail, health, energy, commercial property, education, residential and public sectors. Working alongside our senior managers, you'll lead multi-disciplinary teams driven by excellence. We'll value your insight and leadership, supporting your continued growth and development as a leader.
Your Purpose:
1. Working across several projects in different sectors, providing a range of refurbishment, improvement, and modernisation projects.
2. Undertaking feasibility studies, producing specifications, obtaining estimates, obtaining statutory approvals, and administering contracts for refurbishment projects.
3. Using and applying standard forms of building contract, such as JCT and NEC.
4. Knowledge and application of building surveying professional services.
5. Mentoring and training Building Surveyors and providing Supervisor support to Junior Surveyors on the RICS APC programme.
6. Understanding the principles of quality, safety and the environment in asset surveys, design and management of projects and portfolios.
7. Supporting the senior managers in their day-to-day activities.
8. Line managing of junior Building Surveying staff.
9. Carrying out surveys, inspections, schedules, provide professional services and managing regional schemes.
10. Development of new business opportunities including preparation and submission of bids.
What You Can Bring?
11. A B.Sc. (Hons) in Building Surveying or a similar RICS accredited degree.
12. Chartered status essential/highly desirable.
13. Sound technical surveying knowledge and significant building surveying experience.
14. Experience managing clients with a strong understanding of profitability, business development and sound commercial awareness.
15. Experience in mentoring, training and coaching team members.
16. Experience managing workloads and projects.
17. Sound knowledge drafting technical documents, including clients’ requirements, asset reviews, feasibility studies, specifications, and drawings.
18. Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements and Statutory Compliance.
19. Specific Technical Skillsets to meet specialist Professional Building Surveying service requirements EG Dilapidations, Party Wall, Fire Risk, Access Assessments, and the like.
20. Excellent time management, punctuality, and commitment to getting the job done.
