Teacher – Alternative Education & NEET Provision Salary: £29,217.79 -£35,514.40 – Grade 4 Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday) – Full Time (52 weeks) Reports to: Deputy Manager / Head of Alternative Education DBS: Enhanced Purpose of Role The Tutor will deliver innovative and inclusive teaching across Petty Pool’s new Alternative Education and NEET programmes, supporting learners aged 14–24 to rebuild confidence, achieve qualifications, and progress into further education or employment. This role is ideal for a qualified teacher (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent) who thrives on creativity, outdoor learning, and helping young people with additional needs re-engage with education. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning * Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated sessions across English, maths, vocational, and personal development strands. * Integrate Petty Pool’s outdoor and experiential ethos into daily learning. * Teach mixed-ability groups (typically 1:6 ratio), adapting materials for SEND and SEMH learners. * Use formative assessment and RARPA to track progress and inform planning. * Embed employability and life skills within every learning experience. Curriculum and Accreditation * Contribute to the design and development of curriculum frameworks for KS3–KS4 and NEET learners. * Deliver accredited programmes (ASDAN, AQA Unit Awards, Functional Skills, DofE). * Support the creation of vocational learning opportunities (horticulture, catering, animal care, outdoor conservation). Safeguarding and Welfare * Maintain high standards of safeguarding, pastoral care, and learner supervision. * Report concerns promptly and accurately to the DDSL / DSL. * Implement positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches. Quality and Professional Practice * Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement. * Participate in observations, peer reviews, and staff CPD. * Contribute to curriculum evaluation, SAR, and QIP processes. * Uphold professional and organisational standards at all times. Partnerships and Reintegration * Work closely with learner mentors, parents, schools, and employers to support transitions. * Participate in learner review meetings and reintegration planning. Person Specification Essential * Recognised teaching qualification – PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent Level 5. * Proven success teaching learners with SEND, SEMH, or who are NEET * Excellent knowledge of differentiation, engagement, and trauma-informed approaches * High expectations for learner progress and inclusion. * Ability to plan cross-curricular, creative, and practical lessons. * Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills * Commitment to Petty Pool’s values: Brave, Ambitious, Collaborative, Creative.
