Attendance Officer – Secondary Schools

We are currently working with a number of mainstream secondary schools across East Lancashire who are seeking experienced Attendance Officers to join their teaching and pastoral teams.
Attendance plays a vital role in student achievement, and these roles offer the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting schools in improving attendance, engagement, and safeguarding outcomes for pupils.
The Role:
As an Attendance Officer, you will work closely with senior leaders, pastoral staff, families, and external agencies to:
* Monitor and analyse attendance and punctuality data
* Follow up on student absence and lateness in line with school policies
* Build positive relationships with pupils and parents/carers
* Support early intervention strategies to improve attendance
* Maintain accurate records and reporting systems
* Contribute to safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working where required
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have previous, relevant experience working in an attendance, pastoral, welfare, or education-based role
* Have experience within mainstream secondary schools (essential)
* Be confident communicating with pupils, families, and professionals
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of attendance legislation and safeguarding responsibilities
* Be organised, resilient, and able to manage sensitive conversations professionally
* Work effectively as part of a wider teaching and pastoral team
