08.30-17.00 (Monday to Thursday) 08.30-16.00 (Friday) – 39 hours per week
23 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).

A great opportunity has become available for a Finance Assistant to join a friendly team in Hitchin. You will be working for a niche manufacturing company who have been providing robust hardware for over 50 years. This position is ideal for someone at the beginning of their career who is proactive and eager to support core finance processes from day one.
Main duties: To support the Finance team to provide relevant, timely and insightful financial and administrative support. Working closely with the Senior Finance Manager, the successful candidate will be working on a broad range of finance duties including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control and Auditing.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day transactional support within the finance team, ensuring all transactions are processed and up to date, queries from both internal and external customers dealt with and reconciliations complete
Accounts Receivable Transactions – Customer receipts; Customer queries; Debtor Control A/c reconciliations
Bank & Cash Transactions – including accurate entry and reconciliation of all transactions across all bank accounts
Accounts Payable Transactions – Preparing invoices for entry; Invoice entry; Supplier queries; Statement/Creditor Control A/c reconciliations
Support the production of Monthly Management Accounts and Year End process including Annual Audit as required
Supporting the Credit Control Process
Undertake any other tasks as requested by Senior Finance Manager within limits of capability and training. Including General office duties in relation to the role, filing, archiving etc

Skills and Training:
Essential
A-C GCSE (or Equivalent) English and Maths
Experience prioritising work for deadlines, and working within an Office Environment
Strong communicator across all levels and with internal/external stakeholders
Proficient in IT, especially email, Word, and Excel
Solid problem-solving abilities

Desirable
Any AAT Level
Experience of working within a Finance department / customer service / manufacturing environment
Knowledge of financial procedures including credit control, cash management and double entry bookkeeping
